Project Description

Our partnership with the Gayatri Foundation in Bihar, India, began when a local man, Vishal Bhimrajka, applied to volunteer with the Ann Foundation. Although the position that Vishal applied for had already been filled, Ann encouraged him to take up his own project to help at-risk children in his hometown, many of whom were victims of unpaid and exploitative labor.

Inspired by the idea of helping children in his hometown, Vishal approached his friend Abhijeet, who worked for the local Gayatri Foundation and together, they began designing and implementing online courses, along with the aid of the Ann Foundation. The courses have helped free several children in Bihar from the binds of exploitative child labor.

One of the Ann Foundation’s core aims is to invest in local volunteers like Vishal, and empower them to bring about positive change in their own hometowns.
