Project Description
The Chakshumathi School for the Blind–in Trivandrum, Kerala, is leading the effort to research, develop and adopt the latest technologies for the empowerment of people who are blind or visually impaired. Through its Reading Without Seeing project, the school provides education in an assistive format to its many students, and through its “eyes-free science” camps, gives them a unique platform to learn from various professors and scientists. After partnering with the Ann Foundation, the organization was able to give children aged 5 to 15 a sound background in English improving the students’ understanding of science and technology so that they could explore different career paths.
