Kerri’s story: Volunteering for Ann Foundation

“I came across Ann’s website on my professional organization’s website ASHA (American Speech and Hearing Association) as I was researching different international organizations that I could possibly volunteer for. I had been living abroad, without the right to work and wanted to find something useful to do. I was immediately drawn to Ann’s wonderful foundation and found her to be so genuine and amazing.

I contacted her asking whether she could dream up something I could might be able to assist with, from afar that may benefit her wonderful cause. As a speech pathologist I was so touched by her dedication to serve under privileged children suffering from disability.

Ann was fantastic, quickly getting on a Skype call to brainstorm with me about many possibilities. She even offered me her delicious “lemon rice” recipe which I had mentioned to her, in an email, was my favorite Indian rice dish!

We quickly found something I could help with and I have been creating ESL power points for the ESL online teaching ever since and I absolutely love it. I would love to help more and hopefully one day accompany Ann on one of her missions but for now this is a great way to be a part of a super team.”
